New Tax Convention between Slovenia and Japan

22 Aug 2017

The Republic of Slovenia and Japan intend to bring into force a Convention for the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income without creating opportunities for non-taxation or reduced taxation through tax evasion or avoidance. It contains quite a few provisions that deviate from the OECD model convention. In addition, a new method for taxing company profits is used, which most Slovenian conventions do not yet follow.

Although the convention is not yet in place, it is right that the taxpayers familiarise themselves with its provisions in advance and, if necessary, adjust their business.
