UK: JULIE ADAMS APPOINTED SENIOR PARTNER AT HLB'S MEMBER FIRM MENZIES

Menzies LLP has today announced the appointment of Julie Adams as senior partner with effect from 1 July 2012. Mike Sands is stepping down from the position, which he has held for 18 years, but will remain with the firm. He has no immediate plans for retirement.

The leadership handover coincides with Menzies' centenary which celebrates a hundred years of providing advisory services.  One of Julie Adams' main responsibilities in her new role will be setting the direction of the firm for the years to come, ensuring that Menzies continues to provide services that evolve to meet the changing needs of its owner-managed business client base. In her current role as managing partner, Julie has been instrumental in developing the firm's strategy for the future - which is designed to align with the requirements of a new generation of clients, and their different expectations regarding service, advice and technology.

To adapt to a changing client landscape, Menzies has adopted a multi-discipline approach, providing a range of services including wealth management, advice and support for companies operating internationally and a recently launched HR consultancy. The introduction of new advisory and consulting services alongside traditional practice areas such as tax, audit and corporate finance, has been an integral part of the firm's evolution.

Speaking on the future direction of Menzies, Julie Adams said:

"Business owners rely on our advice because we make the extra effort to understand their company and their circumstances. As companies evolve and the range of available advisory services broadens, the role of an accountancy firm will change. Business owners will be relying heavily on strategic and commercial advice from their accountant, particularly as a challenging economic environment looks set to continue. Menzies will continue to strive to meet this demand with new services, business tools and structures, maintaining a distinctive brand that offers a strong value proposition.

"For 18 years Mike Sands has been an exemplary leader and has positioned Menzies as a firm that prides itself on client service and innovation. I look forward to carrying on this legacy, building on Menzies' reputation and preparing the firm to meet the demands of the future."
