New RDA rebate boosts Brainport of The Netherlands
The Dutch government sees strong regional clusters as the driving force behind economic growth. With businesses, educational institutes and scientists all grouped together, collaboration is easier and products can be marketed faster.
The government aims to attract more investment in innovation by stimulating R&D. Besides a special tax treatment for innovation income (effective tax rate 5%) and tax benefits for wage costs involving research and development (R&D), investments in innovation will be extra tax deductible from 2012. The new RDA rebate initiates an additional 40% deduction of R&D costs.
Especially the "Brainport-region" in the South-East of the Netherlands with its hi-tec companies Philips and ASML and all its suppliers profit from the stimulating program.
Attracted by the social-innovative infra-structure in the Brainport, Boeing moved its training centre for Chinook helicopters to the Tilburg region already.
