HLB International establishes Malaysian Business Channel

HLB International's initiative of Business Channel Development aims to generate cross-border business within HLB network in collaboration with external influencers like government agencies and professional bodies.

Multinational corporations from more than 40 countries have invested in over 5,000 companies in Malaysia's manufacturing and related services sectors, encouraged by the country's pro-business environment. Today, Malaysia is one of the world's top locations for offshore manufacturing and service-based operations. Many of the existing foreign companies have also continued to show their confidence in the country's potentials as an investment location through their numerous expansions and diversifications over the years, particularly in high technology projects. With the support of HLB Malaysian member firm HLB Ler Lum, HLB International Chief Executive Rob Tautges and Head of Business Channel Development Coco Liu had a successful initial meeting with the Chairman Tan Sri Dr. Sulaiman of the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), at MIDA's Kuala Lumpur Head Office in late May 2011. HLB Ler Lum representatives, led by International Contact Partner Dr. Ler Cheng Chye, and MIDA's senior executives Mr. Wan Hashim and Mr. Izran Abdullah joined the meeting.

MIDA is the government's principal agency for the promotion of the manufacturing and services sectors in Malaysia. It assists companies which intend to invest in the manufacturing and services sectors, as well as facilitates the implementation of their projects. It provides a wide range of services including providing information on the opportunities for investments, as well as facilitating companies which are looking for joint venture partners. MIDA also assists companies interested in venturing abroad for business opportunities. (Source: MIDA official website)

At the meeting, introductions have been made by MIDA, HLBI and HLB Ler Lum. Chairman Tan Sri highlighted MIDA's initiatives and priorities. Rob Tautges stressed HLB's commitment to drive inbound investment into Malaysia through our global network. It has been agreed that with the HLB International Contact Partner Dr. Ler Cheng Chye as HLB's one-point contact in Malaysia, more HLB local member firm partners will be introduced to MIDA's overseas offices in the near future and to building a win-win relationship globally.
