ZAMBIAN ACCOUNTING FIRM JOINS HLB INTERNATIONAL - GIVING HLB ITS FIRST LOCAL PRESENCE IN ZAMBIA

The network of choice for international clients

HLB International, the international accountancy network, has signed its first member firm in Zambia.

Reliance Chartered Accountants, trading as Reliance, is a fast-growing accountancy practice based in Lusaka, which specialises in audit, tax and corporate services work for limited companies and non-governmental organisations, and is ranked within the top 15 accountancy firms in the country.

As a result of this new development, the company will be renamed HLB Reliance.

"Reliance is joining the HLB network to develop its positioning on the global stage and to develop cross-border and larger assignments. We feel that it is imperative that we harness the potential for international work. We feel that this can be achieved by joining a visionary, quality focused network and HLB - with its Local in Touch, Global in Reach approach - is the perfect match," says Shuko Ndhlovu, partner at HLB Reliance,

Zambia is a landlocked country with abundant natural resources, including water reserves which account for 40% of water in Southern Africa. The country's economy is mainly supported by mining and agriculture. Growth opportunities in Zambia have been assisted by the stable economy, which has attracted huge investments in mining from India and China. The Zambian Government has encouraged Private Public Partnership (PPP) as a vehicle for investment - as well as tax incentives - which have resulted in inflow investment from abroad, while the property development, construction and financial sectors have also seen significant growth.

Demand for professional services is being driven by several factors including the increase in foreign or international companies and NGOs in Zambia and new regulation that all limited companies are required to submit audited financial statements and tax computation.
